Well, we have officially survived a year of living in Alaska. It's hard to believe it has already been a year - it seems like we just arrived a few months ago!
A couple of weekends ago, the rain & clouds parted and gave way for another perfect, sunny day. We decided to take advantage of it and go for a hike to Rabbit Lake. The trailhead is about 15 minutes from our house and then the actual trail is 4.5 miles each way - but with a very gradual incline. I've decided that flatter hikes are more my style :) The trail ends at the stunning, bright blue Rabbit Lake that is flanked by the rugged Suicide Peaks. North & South Suicide Peaks are popular hikes but they looked rather treacherous to me! The pups were pretty excited there was a lake for them to go swimming in while we relaxed in the grass. Alex and I both thought it would be fun to do the hike again and then backpack/camp the next time. It would be pretty spectacular to wake up to that view with the sun rising over the mountains! Anyone want to come up & join us?? :)

Hi Amy, We spent the day with your mom and dad at Steam Engine Days and your mom told me about your blog. Just wanted to say "hi". Fun seeing your home, pics of the pups, Alex, and the beautiful pictures of Alaska. All is great here. Matt took his senior pictures the other day (I'll forward the link when I get it) and Katie is doing great at Iowa (except she's a Hawkeye now). Keep in touch! My email is hhotvedt@marykay.com Heidi
